I just finished my first experience in conducting a short training for cluster administration to my customer. It's quite interesting actually though I feel a bit nervous at the beginning because at that time I only have one short notes with me and seriously it's really short one. When they ask me to use projector I said "nevermind no need projector. Just short training only" hehehe excuse but no choice they really insist me to use their expensive projector. The problem is, how I'm gonna make it 1 hour training session? Arghhh nevermind!!!I told them this is my short notes only & I'll brieft them more details during the session. Luckily, the trainees really like it & they even ask me to mail them my cluster personal notes, FAQ & tips. After all, everything went smooth & I didn't realized the session finaly took 2 hours to finished :). Atleast, I can sleep well tonite & continue other project tomorrow with another customer. ariyossss athlon_crazy

So, this the my final update regarding linux P2V for SLES10. On previous update, I'm stuck at the error message:-
Vfs : can't open root device (sdaX) or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic not syncing
vfs : unable to mount root fs unknown-block(0,0)

It's going to be another tough project for me this time! Why? I have no problem to do P2V for Windows machine, but within 1 week I need to do 2V for two (2) linux machines it's really give me headache. I start with some research & testing this week with different method of P2V using rsync, scp & etc the whole SLES10 physical drive to the virtual machine. Unfortunately, the system not even want to boot. Suddenly, I just remember about cloning tool(Partimage) which is comewith my own distro.

NEW Project - Groupwise cluster - MYNIC
Venue : Jaring Data Centre
Duration : 1 week
Since this is my second project working on Novell products (Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1 & Open Enterprise Server 2) we expect this project can run smoothly without much hassle like JKR one. All preparation & testing already been done in Zen office except we did configured the cluster with iscsi instead using SAN box. My solely task of course, setup & configure cluster base infrastructure including SLES10 & OES2 installation, edirectory & Novell Cluster Service / NCS, failover matrix, testing & etc. Then, my other collegue will do their job to configure novell groupwise on top of it.

Some pictures taken on JKR project for Netware server OS upgrade / migration. I can say that my 8x nodes cluster nodes on Netware 6.5 SP7 now are ready & stable enough to handle a total 24 resources including user data, groupwise, dhcp & etc.  Only few things need to be done before we totally handed the project to JKR. Project Members & expertise on their own areas such as groupwise, cluster, edirectory, hardware & etc.
